"Fred was great! He got us onto some Redfish right away. He has great knowledge of the waters and where the best habitat is. We also caught some Snook and Sheephead. My daughter and I had an awesome time." - Dave
"Great trip. Grandkids loved it. Captain Fred is personable and did a great job. Great experience. Cooked the red fish tonight and it was wonderful!" - George
"Our fishing trip was fantastic! Captain Fred had so much energy! If the fish weren't biting, we would move to the next spot, he never ran out of spots. We caught fish at almost all of them, we would move when the catfish started biting. We highly recommend Fred Gowdy Charters!" - Mark
Snook: These hard-fighting, silver-sided beauties are a Florida favorite. Snook love to hang around structure, so we'll be working mangrove shorelines and oyster bars. They've got a reputation for explosive strikes and acrobatic jumps that'll get your heart racing. Spring and fall are prime seasons, but with Captain Fred's know-how, you've got a shot at landing one year-round.
Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," hooking into one of these giants is the highlight of many anglers' lives. Tarpon in Bonita Springs can easily top 100 pounds, and their gill-rattling jumps are a sight to behold. They start showing up in good numbers come late spring, and the action can last well into summer. Even if you don't land one, just seeing these prehistoric fish roll on the surface is worth the trip.
Redfish: With their copper-colored backs and signature spot near the tail, redfish are both beautiful and delicious (if you're keeping your catch). These bulldogs of the flats put up a great fight on light tackle. We'll look for them tailing in shallow water or cruising the edges of oyster bars. Fall is fantastic for big schools of redfish, but you can catch them year-round in Bonita Springs.
Look, there's a reason why Captain Fred's trips are a customer favorite – he knows these waters like the back of his hand and always puts in the extra effort to make sure you're on fish. Whether you're looking to scratch that fishing itch, want to introduce the kids to the sport, or just need a solid morning out on the water, this trip delivers. The early morning start means you'll be fishing during prime hours and still have the afternoon free for other activities. So why wait? Grab your spot on one of the best fishing charters in Bonita Springs and get ready to make some lasting memories. Trust me, once you feel that first tug on the line, you'll be hooked!

Redfish are a Bonita Springs favorite, with that distinctive spot near the tail. You'll find 'em in super shallow water, sometimes with their backs out of the water! Most are in the 20-30 inch range, but they can get much bigger. Look for them around oyster beds, grass flats, and mangroves in 1-4 feet of water. Fall is prime time when they school up. Anglers love redfish for their strong runs and great eating quality. They'll hit just about any bait or lure. My local secret is to use a gold spoon - redfish can't seem to resist that flash. Work it slowly across shallow flats early in the morning. When you feel that thump, set the hook hard - redfish put up an awesome fight on light tackle!
Snook are a prized catch in Bonita Springs, known for their sleek bodies and that distinctive black lateral line. You'll usually find them hanging around mangroves and shallow coastal waters, about 1-4 feet deep. Most run 1-2 feet long, but the big boys can hit 4 feet. Spring and fall are prime snook seasons when water temps are just right. Anglers love 'em for their explosive strikes and acrobatic fights - these fish will really test your skills. They're ambush predators, so work your lures near structure. My go-to trick is using a soft plastic swimbait, slow-rolled past mangrove roots. Just remember, snook are catch-and-release only in these parts. Nothing beats the thrill of watching a big snook rocket out of the water, though!
Tarpon are the giants of Bonita Springs, sometimes pushing 6 feet and 100 pounds. You'll spot 'em rolling on the surface in coastal waters and estuaries. Spring and summer are prime tarpon time, especially around the full and new moons. These prehistoric-looking fish are famous for their spectacular aerial displays - when they're hooked, they'll leap clear out of the water. It's a true bucket list catch for any angler. You'll need heavy tackle and plenty of patience. They're not the best eating, so it's all about the fight and release. My local tip: use live mullet or pinfish on a circle hook. Let it drift naturally with the tide. When that tarpon inhales it, hold on tight - you're in for the battle of a lifetime!
