Fishing Report: Fred Gowdy Charters – Bonita Springs, FL
Estero Bay - Lee, FL
The freshwater scene in Bonita Springs delivered an unexpected twist this week. While the primary goal was centered around the vibrant local Peacock Bass, a heavy hitter from the salt decided to join the fray, making for a memorable day on the water.
The Surprise Guest It started as a productive "peacock party," with the bass showing their signature aggression and bright colors. However, the highlight occurred when a Snook crashed the gathering. Finding Snook pushed this far into the brackish and freshwater transition zones adds a layer of variety to the local canals, giving anglers the chance to land two iconic Florida species in a single session.
What’s Biting Peacock Bass: Extremely active and responding well to fast-moving presentations.
Snook: Showing up in unexpected territory, providing powerful fights and a great secondary target.
Location: Inland waterways of Bonita Springs, where the mixing of species is currently at its peak.
